Four goals by Pennington lifts Ice Dogs

The Ice Dogs got four goals from Matt Pennington to upset the division-leading Kensington Goldminers 5-1 on Sunday in a Juneau Adult Hockey Association Tier B battle at Treadwell Arena.

Sound off on the important issues at

Dan Fabrelo had a goal and assist while Greg Stopher and Bill Holbrook picked up assists for the Ice Dogs.

Jim Craig had 20 saves in the win.

Dennis Weston provided Kensington's lone goal while Gene Cheeseman made 16 saves.

TIER A

Island Pub 4, Play It Again Sports 1

The Island Pub defeated Play It Again Sports on Sunday as Dan Teske recorded a goal and three assists.

Lance Miller, Aaron Jacobs and Steve Dahl scored goals, while Ryan Ruesch, Luke Adams and Blake Galvin had assists for the Island Pub.

Anders Peterson scored Play It Again Sports' lone goal off an assist from Mike Farrell.

WOMEN'S A

Island Pub 4, Northern Keta 0

The Island Pub's Nandi Than scored twice while Michelle Morris and Kristin Peterson added goals in shutout victory over Northern Keta.

Ann-Marie Martin had two assists while Morris, Stephanie Yates, Julie Nielsen and Elizabeth Johnston added one assist each in the win.

Dawn Voss made 18 saves for Northern Keta.

TIER B

Winter Kings 3, Island Pub 0

James Swanson had two assists to lead the Winter Kings past the Ice Dogs on Monday.

Wayne Coleman, Brian Van Kirk and Robert Jones all scored in the win. Also, Scott Host chipped in an assist for the Winter Kings.

Ice Dogs goaltender Mario Perez stopped 27 of 30 shots.

Steve Morrison made 25 saves to preserve the shutout for the Winter Kings.

WOMEN'S B

Gold 1, Les Schwab 0

Elise Augustson scored with 5:30 left in the second period to give the Gold a Sunday win over Les Schwab.

Jessie Kovach picked up the assist on Augustson's tally.

TIER C

Grey 1, Capital Embroidery 1

Capital Embroidery's Loni Van Kirk scored off assists from Steve Baseden and Greg Germain in the second period to seal a 1-1 tie with the Grey on Sunday.

Todd Cameron gave the Grey a 1-0 lead in the first period after scoring off an assist from Jeffery Johns.

Grey goaltender Rick Pannell stopped 20 shots while counterpart Gene Cheeseman made 19 saves.

TIER D

Grey 4, Green 0

Darryl Tseu made 11 saves to preserve the Grey's shutout of the Green on Monday.

Patrick Race, John Hickey, Stephen Lewis and Andrew Parsons all scored for the Grey. Parsons had two assists while James Harvey and Evan Bixby had one assist each in the victory.

Green goaltender Scott Sell stopped 25 shots.

Flying Prunes 1, Air Excursions 1

The Flying Prunes' Liam Carnahan stopped 16 of 17 shots to help his team earn a draw with Air Excursions on Sunday.

Dave Bartlett scored Air Excursion's lone goal off an assist from Jason Sosa in the second period.

The Flying Prunes scored with 12:02 left in the third period to knot the game at 1-1.
