The Girl Scouts celebrate a birthday this month. Juneau Girl Scouts will participate in Girl Scout Week from March 12 to 18 with special activities.
It has been 94 years since the first Girl Scout troop meeting was held. The organization has evolved from 18 members to some 3 million.
The Tongass Alaska Girl Scout Council serves more than 800 girls in Southeast Alaska. Girl Scouts is open to girls ages 5 to 17. To learn more about Girl Scouting, call the council office at 586-1710 or 800-478-8247.
Garden show comes to Juneau
The Southeast Alaska Gardening Conference and Free Trade Show will be April 27-29 at Centennial Hall.
The show is sponsored by Southeast Alaska Master Gardeners and the University of Alaska Cooperative Extension.

Celebrate Youth Art Month
March is Youth Art Month, and the Juneau School District Elementary Art Program is sponsoring a citywide elementary student art show March 11-12 at the Nugget Mall.
