Thanks for making race course race worthy

The Kensington Cup was Feb. 23 through 26 at Eaglecrest. It is one of two race series held each year to determine the Junior Olympic teams for the Alaska division.

Last year, the Juneau Ski Club had to move the event to Alyeska Ski Area because of snow conditions. This year we were able to hold the event at Eaglecrest for only one reason; not because snow conditions had reached the quality necessary, but because Kirk Duncan the area manager, Jeff Brown, Jeffra Clough and other staff at Eaglecrest worked for many extra hours and days off to help us prepare the courses.

The race runs were groomed and snow moved from other areas in order to provide the opportunity for 68 racers from Juneau, Anchorage and Fairbanks to compete on the race course. Without their tireless effort, that would not have been possible. From all of us, a heartfelt thank you. We are so lucky to have the right people in the right place.
