JUNEAU - The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium WISEWOMAN program is sponsoring WISE At Every Size classes for women in Juneau.

The classes take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on seven Tuesdays, from March 10 to April 28 (no class on April 14), at Room 205 in the Bill Ray Center at the University of Alaska Southeast downtown campus.

The classes will be led by Jennifer Nu. The registration deadline is Monday, March 9.

WISE At Every Size is a non-dieting approach to health and wellness. The classes are open to all adult women and they focus on listening to your body's messages of hunger and fullness, finding ways to get joyful movement and having a positive body image. Research has shown that this approach can reduce blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose readings, while improving overall fitness. Women who complete the program requirements will earn a $50 gift certificate to either Nugget Outfitter or the Junonia catalog for active women size 14-plus (

In addition to the classes in Juneau, there are WISE At Every Size classes being taught this winter in several other Southeast communities.
