ANCHORAGE - More than 200 Fort Richardson soldiers returned from Afghanistan to Anchorage and were greeted by family members Saturday packing a post gymnasium.

KTUU-TV reports the paratroopers are part of the 3,500-soldier 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team.

They were deployed for the last year. About 2,900 members of the unit have returned over the last few months.

About 600 soldiers from Fort Richardson remain in Afghanistan. They are scheduled to return later this month.
