Raven who knocked out Anchorage power 'nevermore'

Posted: Tuesday, March 08, 2011

ANCHORAGE — A raven is to blame for an hour-long power outage Sunday afternoon in much of downtown Anchorage.

The bird will nevermore darken the city.

Municipal Light and Power workers found its carcass at a switchyard where its wings shorted out electrical lines.

The Anchorage Daily News reports the incident brought down three substations serving about a third of downtown.
