Skeeter Atoruk's 11 points led a balanced scoring effort as the Mount Edgecumbe girls beat host Metlakatla 63-25 on Saturday to complete a sweep of their Southeast Conference-Class 3A series.
Kim Rychnovsky scored 10 points on Friday as the Braves beat the MissChiefs 56-40.
With the wins, Mount Edgecumbe (19-1 overall, 13-1 SE) finished its season with the best record in conference play. They will hold the top seed among Class 3A girls teams at next week's Southeast Tournament in Juneau.
Jolene Jackinsky added nine points and Victoria Smeaton had eight for Mount Edgecumbe on Saturday. Kristy Didrickson scored 11 points and Brandi Hayward added eight for Metlakatla.
On Friday, Jackinsky and Jennifer Evan scored eight apiece for the Braves, who held a 31-12 halftime lead. Lindsey Schwehm scored 17 points to lead the MissChiefs, and Didrickson added 13, including three 3-pointers.
Petersburg girls sweep Haines
Lauren Susort scored a game-high 18 points on March 2 as the Petersburg girls beat visiting Haines 59-39 to open their Southeast-Class 3A series.
Gillian Severson had 12 points on March 3 for the Vikings as they beat the Glacier Bears 54-38 to complete the series sweep.
Sarah Aiken added 11 points and Lynsey Richards had 10 on March 2 for Petersburg (15-5 overall, 11-3 SE), which led 35-26 at halftime and broke away with a big third-quarter run. Ivanca Jones scored 15 points - including three 3-pointers - and Drew Fossman added 11 for Haines (3-13 overall, 3-11 SE).
Emily Moran added nine points and Susort had eight for Petersburg on March 3, which was senior night for the Vikings. Jones and Fossman scored 11 apiece for Haines, while Kim Ferrin added 10 for the Glacier Bears.
Hoonah boys sweep Angoon
Dustin Bowen scored 33 points and D.J. Lindstrom added 25 as the Hoonah boys beat host Angoon 102-69 on Monday for a sweep of their non-conference series.
Bowen had 22 points and Lindstrom 20 as the Braves beat the Eagles 67-52 on Saturday. Both teams will head to Sitka for the Southeast Conference-Class 2A later this week.
On Monday, Devin Moritz added 15 points and Lloyd Lewin had 10 for Hoonah (19-3 overall), which hit nine 3-pointers in the game and scored 30 points in the fourth quarter. Adam Johnson scored 26 points and Chris Kookesh chipped in 23 for Angoon (5-11 overall).
Moritz scored 17 points for Hoonah on Saturday as the Braves hit 13 3-pointers in the game, including six by Lindstrom - four in the first quarter alone. John Croasmun scored 22 points to lead Angoon, while Kookesh added 11 and Johnson scored 10.
Hoonah girls sweep Angoon
Jessica Skaflestad scored 15 points and Kristi Skaflestad added 14 as the Hoonah girls beat host Angoon 48-27 on Monday to complete a sweep of their non-conference series.
On Saturday, Kristi Skaflestad scored 24 points as the Braves beat the Eagles 47-40.
Brooke Lampe added nine points on Monday for Hoonah (16-6 overall), while Samantha Williams scored 10 points to lead Angoon (5-13 overall).
Hoonah led 25-12 at halftime Saturday before Angoon rallied to cut the Braves' lead to two - 31-29 - entering the fourth quarter. Amber Lampe added nine points for Hoonah, while Jessica Williams scored 10 points and Sunnie Duncan added eight for Angoon.
Petersburg boys sweep Haines
Sam Jensen scored 23 points on Saturday as the Petersburg boys beat host Haines 47-32 to open their Southeast-Class 3A series.
Jensen scored 20 as the Vikings beat the Glacier Bears 57-43 on Monday to complete the sweep.
The Vikings improved their season record to 13-7 overall, 8-6 conference. Haines slipped to 4-11 overall, 3-11 conference.
Jeb Phillips added eight points for Petersburg on Saturday, his first game back after breaking his thumb in December. David Berry scored 18 points and Bryan Combs added 12 for Haines. No further scoring details were available for Monday's game.
Mount Edgecumbe boys sweep Metlakatla
Josh Thomas scored 52 points over two games last weekend as the Mount Edgecumbe boys finished the regular season undefeated in conference play with a two-game Southeast-Class 3A series sweep against visiting Metlakatla.
Thomas scored 27 points on Friday as the Braves beat the Chiefs 99-55, and he scored 25 in Mount Edgecumbe's 78-36 win on Saturday. Caleb McGraw added 15 points, Erik Stickler had 14 and Brandon Thomas added 13 on Friday for Mount Edgecumbe (16-2 overall, 14-0 SE).
Josh Thomas hit five 3-pointers for the Braves, including four in the third quarter as Mount Edgecumbe scored 37 points in the period. Layte Hudson scored 18 points and Donald Tompkins added 17 for Metlakatla (5-17 overall, 2-12 SE).
Brandon Thomas scored 15 points, while Stickler and Damen Bell-Holter added 11 apiece on Friday as Mount Edgecumbe took a 48-6 halftime lead. Tompkins led Metlakatla with 19 points.
