UAF skier wins 20K at NCAA championships

FAIRBANKS - University of Alaska Fairbanks senior Marius Korthauer marked his birthday with a big win.

Korthauer took the men's 20-kilometer Nordic title at the NCAA Ski Championships being held this week in Bozeman, Mont.

Korthauer, who is now 24, was one of 38 skiers in the field.

The national title is a first for Korthauer.

He finished second twice and third twice in the same event in previous championship attempts.

Korthauer finished second in the 10-kilometer freestyle on Wednesday.
