FAIRBANKS - A 47-year-old Fairbanks woman has been charged with shooting her fiance in the neck.
Clara Oktollik was charged Saturday with felony assault and held at Fairbanks Correctional Center.
The incident is listed in court documents as an act of domestic violence. The couple had been drinking at a home in east Fairbanks.
Police said the incident began with Oktollik's fiance, identified in court documents as C.B., accusing her of infidelity.
The man threw Oktollik to the floor of a detached garage, sat on her and tried to punch her head, according to the complaint.
Oktollik fled, went into the house, ate food and tried to call her daughter for help. She then returned to the garage with a rifle to confront her fiance, according to the complaint.
The man tried to take the rifle away from her. Oktollik loaded the rifle and fired a round that hit C.B. in the right side of the base of his neck and left through his left shoulder.
Oktollik told authorities she was trying to shoot into the air.
The man was to be flown to Anchorage for treatment.
Oktollik in 2004 pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault and was ordered to spend 60 days in jail and to take an anger management class, according to a court system database.
