Juneau residents Jamie M. Matherson, Tanna M. Peters, Kimberly V. Race and Jaimee L. Schmitz were named to the dean's list for the fall quarter of 1999 at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash.
Carrie Breithaupt and Amy Little have been named to the dean's list at George Fox University for the fall semester. Breithaupt is a senior majoring in biology and Little is a sophomore majoring in liberal arts.
Patrice Aphrodite Helmar has been named to the dean's list at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Ore., for the fall term.
Kim Cropley was named to the president's list for the fall quarter at Denver Technical College.
Ashley Badger, a senior at JDHS, is the winner of this year's Youth Citizenship Award from Soroptimist International of Juneau. She serves as a museum volunteer, Pioneer Home volunteer, and is a member of the JDHS student government and drill team.
Floyd Dryden Middle School students placed fourth at the Mathcounts competition in Anchorage this month. The team was coached by Josh Yerkes and Bonnie McGee.
Rachel Steininger, a 1996 graduate of JDHS, has been named to the dean's list at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Ind., for the fall semester. She is a senior majoring in finance.
Jessica D. Stone has enlisted in the U.S. Army's Delayed Entry Program, which allows a person to join but delay their actual department for up to a year. She enlisted as a Food Service Specialist and will depart for basic training in Fort Jackson, S.C., in June.
Sgt. Kevin M. Siska of the Juneau Police Dept. graduated in February from the Southwestern Law Enforcement Institute's 36th Management College in Richardson, Texas.
Willow M. Malick was named to the honor roll at Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield, Mass., for the second quarter.
Koby Huntington, 15, of Sitka, set four junior world records while fishing aboard the Sea Quest with his father, as compiled by the International Game Fish Association in Daytona Beach, Fla. The catches from last August include an 18 pound 12 ounce yelloweye rockfish, a 10 pound 8 ounce coho salmon, a 5 pound 4 ounce pink salmon and an 8 pound 1 ounce chum salmon.
Jon Lyman of Juneau was selected as Educator of the Year by the Alaska Outdoor Council during its annual award banquet this month in Juneau. The council also elected Carl Rosier as its president and Jerry Burnett as third vice president.
