ANCHORAGE - A trial for a former Anchorage police officer accused of sexually abusing a minor and possessing child pornography has been called off.
The jury had been chosen, but hadn't heard any testimony in the proceedings against Sammy Cohen before it was called off Thursday.
The state had been unable to find the victim, and the defense prepared its case on that assumption. But the victim was found Wednesday, and Cohen's lawyer requested and received time to refashion its defense.
No new trial date has been set.
Cohen was charged in 2005 in connection with sexually abusing an underage girl and stashing child pornography on his home computer.
