JUNEAU - Owner of Play It Again Sports of Juneau Rusty Scudder recently returned to the area after attending the company's winter conference and trade show. The event was held at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas from Feb. 14 to 17.
"It is good to be back in the Juneau area after spending time with fellow Play It Again Sports franchisees at this company-wide event," said Scudder, whose store provides the local community with quality new and used sporting goods equipment. "The informational sessions and product previews gave me a sense of how I can better stock my store and serve my customers. I'm grateful that my company is so invested in my success."
Divided into various segments that were focused on particular sports, the conference presented attendees with detailed reports on the state of the snow sports, hockey, soccer and football markets. Speakers provided presentations on how store owners can identify the needs of their community sports teams and provide parents with affordable solutions to their children's equipment needs.
"The Play It Again Sports brand is a thriving force in today's retail marketplace," said Pat Quinn, director of Play It Again Sports. "In fact, in the past two years, we have experienced more customers buying and selling used gear at our stores than ever before. We believe that's because we provide our franchisees, like Rusty, with the tools they need to continually grow their business."
Quinn noted that one such resource was a presentation by special guest speaker Steve LeFever, a leader in the development of practical financial programs and training for the independent business community.
"Overall, I was impressed with the quality of presentations, such as that by Mr. LeFever, that were included as part of this conference," Scudder said. "I feel confident that I am returning to the Juneau area with a newfound understanding of what is required to keep my business thriving in today's unique business landscape."
