Michael Lance Jackson -husband, father, son, brother and friend - passed away suddenly March 2, 2010, at the age of 42.

Mike Jackson was born on June 20, 1967 in Pomona, Calif., to Rena and Robert Jackson.

He grew up in West Linn, Ore., and attended West Linn High School, where he participated in basketball and football. It wasn't until 1997 that he finally received a high school diploma, from Juneau-Douglas High School, through correspondence studies.

He was actively involved with coaching middle school and Hooptime basketball, where he also was a board member. Mike was a huge Juneau youth and high school sports supporter, and spent much of his free time volunteering for various teams and events. He cheered on his daughters, Karissa and Kacey, during countless practices and games.

Mike loved the outdoors, his family said, and in Juneau he found the perfect place to pursue fishing, hunting and everything else this magical place had to offer.

He was an avid runner and was training for the Auke Man Triathlon. His family said Mike was the family Guitar Hero Champion and could deep-fry a turkey and process smoked salmon like no other.

At the time of his death, he worked full-time for GCI Communications as a converter control technician, and part-time with Timberwolf Ventures, where his wife, Anissa, is a principal partner.

Mike is survived by his wife, best friend and soulmate, Anissa, and their daughters, Karissa and Kacey; his mother, Rena, and his brothers and sisters, Jim, Robert, Julie and Crystal. He also will be fondly remembered by his Juneau family: Ed and Ginny Johns, Tamala and Daren Booton, Sugar and Kevin Grush, Jayme and Mary Johns, Jeffery Johns, Jody Levernier; along with nieces and nephews: Garrett, Matthew, Colton, Caden, Abigail, Madisen and Megan and extended family and friends both here and in Oregon.

Mike was predeceased by his father, Robert Jackson.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 13 at the Twisted Fish in Juneau.

Donations to a special fund for Karissa and Kacey may be made at any Wells Fargo branch under the K2 Jackson Fund, account number 3929957581.
