ANCHORAGE - Traffic is flowing again on two major Alaska highways after avalanches forced their closures.
The Seward Highway south of Anchorage was reopened Tuesday afternoon after slides came down a few miles apart earlier in the day near Girdwood. The highway was closed down over a 60-mile stretch.
An avalanche on Monday forced transportation officials to close the Richardson Highway leading into Valdez. The state also reopened that highway Tuesday after removing snow from the roadway.
