ANCHOR POINT — An 46-year-old Anchor Point woman charged with trying to kill her girlfriend has surrendered to Alaska state troopers.

The Peninsula Clarion reports Laurie Kalberg called troopers Monday from an auto parts store in Soldotna. She was jailed without bail.

She’s accused of firing a shot at Susan Frewin on New Year’s Day after a drinking bout and rampage.

According to the investigators, she fired a Taurus .357-caliber revolver from the foot of Frewin’s bed as the girlfriend closed her eyes, but missed high, striking a window.

Frewin told a trooper the two lived together about two years. The trooper said Kalberg had attacked Frewin before and had gotten agitated because her cat had been killed by a tenant of Frewin’s.

Kalberg pleaded not guilty. A May trial is scheduled.
