Juneau Ski Club member Peter Peel finished second in the state over the weekend at the Youth Ski League State Championships for alpine skiers at Eaglecrest Ski Area.

Peel finished second in the J4 category, which is for skiers born between 1994 and 1995. This weekend's championships were for skiers in the J4 and J5 categories. J5 is for athletes born in 1996 and 1997.
"He's a great athlete," JSC coach Erin McNally said of Peel. "He's been skiing really well."
Peel finished second to Christopher Scott of Anchorage in Sunday's slalom event with a time of 1 minute, 29.11 seconds, and he took third in Saturday's giant slalom in 1:54.09.
Scott won the overall J4 title.
Juneau J4 racer Dylan Eason finished seventh in the giant slalom and 18th in the slalom. Joe Greenough, competing in J5, finished 26th overall in the slalom at 2:14.04.
Juneau's Adam Empson took 28th, and Jack Withington finished 20th in the giant slalom J5 division.
In the girls competition, Juneau J4 competitor Ashley Dombroski finished a team-high ninth in the giant slalom with a time of 2:05.12. She also finished 22nd in the slalom.
J4 skier Naomi Moritz's time of 1:40.64 in the slalom was good for 13th place overall while fellow J4 athlete Ali Eason took 17th in the slalom at 1:45.95.
Juneau J5 skier Anouk Otsea placed 26th overall in the slalom with a time of 2:04.18.
Anchorage's Audrey Hume won the overall J4 girls title.
The state championships featured skiers representing clubs from Juneau, Anchorage and Fairbanks.
