JUNEAU - The winning poems from the recent Poetry OmniBus competition were selected and will be posted inside Capital Transit System buses in mid-March. The winners will read their winning poems at a reception at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the downtown library.
In the youth category, grades five through 12, the winning authors were Cate Ross, Megan Wright, Anastasia Hobson-George, Dylan Taylor, Hannah Orren, Lauren Rabago, Savanna Schauwecker, Taylor Flannagan, Zach Schauwecker, Hailey Pusich, Austin Tagaban, Tyler Housewart, Scott Funk, Rachel Sielbach and Wil Linford.
Winning adults poems were by Aleria Jensen, Christina Apaathy, Nikki Morris, Bob Fagen, Nick Nixon, Nina Chordas, Helena Fagan, Emily Wall, Richard Stokes, Brenna McLaughlin, Margo Waring, Gerald Adams, Lauren Swift and Shoshannah Seligman.
This year, the Cabin Fever Arts Festival is sponsoring a celebration of Poetry on Wheels, where Poetry OmniBus winners will perform their original, winning selections on a bus. Readers and riders will depart the covered bus stop in front of the downtown library at noon on Friday and loop through the downtown area.
