Juneau's Hunter Brown and Leah Francis won gold ulus in the snowshoeing competitions on Tuesday at the Arctic Winter Games in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
Brown won the 5-kilometer junior male race in 22 minutes, 30.63 seconds. Second-place finisher William Kennedy of Yukon finished in 23:16.80 while Yamal's Denis Uryupin took bronze in 24:29.70.
In the junior female 5-kilometer race, Francis struck gold after finishing in 24:40.56. Alaska's Heidi Doner took bronze in 27:05.62.
In the 2.5-kilometer juvenile male race, Juneau's David Francis won a silver and Zack Bursell won bronze. Francis finished in 11:22.71 while Bursell placed third in 11:40.94. Logan Roots of Whitehorse, Yukon, won the race in 10:57.93.
Juneau's Sidney Browning won a bronze ulu in the 2.5-kilometer juvenile female race. She finished third in 13:29.60 while Evgeniya Shilyaeva of Yamal won in 13:19.31.

Alaska took the bronze ulu in team table tennis as Juneau's Eddie Hurtte and Eagle River's Brant Bennett recorded two wins and two losses.

Juneau goaltender Lenka Craigova' had a shutout as Alaska throttled Nunavut on Tuesday.
Juneau's Zack Bicknell had an assist in the win. Alaska evened its record to 1-1 with the victory.

Juneau's Melissa Skan also had an assist in the win.
On Monday, the two Juneau players hooked up for the lone goal in a win over hometown Northwest Territories. Ashe scored off Skan's assist in the win.

Alaska picked up its first two wins on Tuesday after downing Greenland and Nunavut.
Against Greenland, Juneau's Carly Lehnhart and Margaret Sekona scored two goals each. Sekona also had an assist in the win.
Against Nunavut, Sekona scored twice and Lehnhart scored one in the win. Juneau's Rachel Tarver and Kayla Walton also played in the win.
Alaska improved to 2-1 with the wins and have two games left in round robin play.

Juneau's Annika Ord scored twice as Alaska topped Nunavut on Tuesday for its first win.
Ord's Juneau-Douglas High School teammate, Sarah Tarver, had an assist.
