JUNEAU - On Thursday afternoon, the Juneau Police Department responded to a single-vehicle accident on Glacier Highway near Central Avenue.
Police said the driver of a 2002 Subaru Forester veered into the oncoming lane, crossed over the sidewalk and crashed into a power pole. The driver, an 18-year-old Juneau woman, was transported to Barlett Regional Hospital for possible non-life-threatening injuries. The driver experienced a medical problem, which caused the accident, police said. The vehicle was totaled, and Alaska Electric Light & Power Co. responded to repair the power pole.
Traffic on Glacier Highway was closed between Alaway Avenue and Belardi Avenue for about one half hour while the power pole was repaired.
