KETCHIKAN - A spokeswoman for Gov. Sean Parnell confirms he will attend a cruise ship trade show in Miami next week.
Parnell will attend Seatrade Cruise Shipping Miami.
Parnell's plans were announced by the Alaska Alliance of Cruise Travel, a nonprofit group that promotes the cruise and tourism industries. The group formed last year after decisions by cruise lines to move vessels out of the Alaska market.
The group has criticized Alaska's wastewater standards, passenger fees, and gambling and corporate taxes established by a 2006 ballot initiative.
The group calls them overreaching burdens that are prompting cruise lines to cut capacity in Alaska.
The group said Parnell will carry the message to the trade show that Alaska is open for cruise business.
