ANCHORAGE - A juror collapsed Wednesday morning at the Zyprexa trial against pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly.
The trial is under way in Anchorage Superior Court.
The Anchorage Daily News reported that a juror collapsed just as proceedings were getting going. The man, who appeared to be in his 60s, apparently blacked out and fell, hitting his head.
Paramedics were called, and the courtroom was cleared.
The case is over the side effects of the anti-schizophrenia medication.
The jury is being asked to decide if Eli Lilly hid the drug's side effects to avoid losing sales. The state says the company should reimburse the Alaska Medicaid program for the cost of treating the side effects, including diabetes.
