The U.S. Forest Service is holding two separate public forums in Juneau to explain the details and intent of the recently proposed Planning Rule that will serve as a national blueprint for how all individual forest and grassland plans will chart national forest management in the coming years.
The forums will be from 1-4 p.m. and then from 6-8 p.m. on March 21 at Centennial Hall.
These forums will not be open to public comment, but as informational sessions for interested stakeholders to ask questions that will better inform the formal comments they submit during the current public comment period, which closes May 16.
The proposed planning rule provides a collaborative and science-based framework for creating land management plans that would support ecological sustainability and contribute to rural job opportunities.
