Posted: Sunday, March 13, 2011

A jump from a pickup truck Saturday morning injured a Juneau man, according to a release from the Juneau Police Department.

Medical personnel transported the man, whom police did not identify, to Bartlett Regional Hospital, and later to Providence Medical Center in Anchorage for treatment of his injuries, the release states.

Witnesses told police the truck left the scene of the accident, which was on Glacier Highway near Jensine Street. However, the vehicle had returned to the spot by the time they arrived.

The driver, identified only as a 34-year-old Juneau man, told police he and the passenger argued before the passenger jumped from the truck. The driver told police he slowed and then returned to the scene to check on the passenger. The passenger, but not the driver, is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.

An investigation was ongoing at press time.
