Community Schools seeks contributors for Saturday pancake cookoff, garage sale
Sound off on the important issues at
Community Schools and Juneau-Dougals High School still need cooks for their first annual Sourdough Pancake Cookoff at 10 a.m. Saturday at JDHS. Community Schools is also selling rental space for its community garage sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at JDHS.

Cooperative Extension Service holds free homebuilding workshop Saturday
The Juneau District Cooperative Extension Service invites the public to a a free workshop, "Marine Climate Homebuilding Techniques," from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the University of Alaska Southeast Technical Education Center, 1415 Harbor Way, rooms 217-218.
The course will be taught by Richard Seifert, UAF/Cooperative Extension Energy and Housing specialist. Topics to be covered are windows, ventilation, marine climate options, walls, indoor air quality, roofs and foundations.

Glacier Valley hosts HeART & Sole family dance this Saturday
Glacier Valley Elementary School is hosting its HeART & Sole ballroom family dance night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the school.
Dance instructor Shane Wirtz will offer a workshop from 6 to 7 p.m. before the Thunder Mountain Big Band kicks in with live music for the rest of the evening. There will be a dessert auction and student art exhibit.
Tickets are $5 for students and $15 for families. All proceeds support Glacier Valley's arts program. Tickets available at Glacier Valley and at the door. For more information, contact the school at 463-1801.
