The November Sharing is Caring food drive for the Southeast Food Bank was a great success, thanks to so many. The goal for the day was to collect 6,000 pounds of food. When all was said and done, 17,704 pounds of food was collected.
Thank you to Ben Williams and everyone at Alaskan & Proud for hosting this annual event; to Kelly Peres, Karen Wright, Jeff McCoy, Randy Ashe, Sharon Burns, Jen Henderson, Sharon Gaiptman and everyone at the Juneau Radio Center for advertising the event and broadcasting it throughout the day; to Dennis Egan, Rod Swope, Cathy Muñoz, Ben Brown, and everyone who "did time" in the makeshift jail and who called their friends to bail them out; to Kevin Hansen and everyone at First Student School Buses for donating their time as well as the use of two school buses to transfer the collected food to the Food Bank; to Jenna Miller, Mike McMullen and Judy Brown for being there all day soliciting and collecting donations, and helping sort and load the food for transfer; and, of course, thank you all who contributed to the food drive. Juneau is indeed a wonderfully caring community.
President, Southeast Alaska Food Bank
