Children in Portland, Ore., work with a School and Community Reuse Action Project (SCRAP) activity. SCRAP, a nonprofit based out of Portland, will be present at the Association for the Education of Young Children's 2009 Early Childhood Conference. The nonprofit's mission is to inspire creative reuse and environmentally sustainable behavior by providing educational programs and affordable materials to the community. While in Juneau, SCRAP will educate on their organization, instruct on how to start your own reuse center and hope to inspire creativity. There will be a SCRAP Attack Family night and free potluck from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Chapel by the Lake. To register to attend the conference on Saturday morning, call AEYC at 789-1235.
