Hyd

aburg's kindergarten and first-grade classes visited Head Start in February. Each student brought books to read to the Head Start kids. After reading, they made snacks, and each child received a new book from the Head Start teachers.

Because of a new language arts curriculum, implementation of state standards and an individualized reading program, the kindergarten students are beginning to read, and most of the first-grade students are reading well above grade level, school officials said.
