Posted: Thursday, March 17, 2011

This Friday’s Fireside Lecture at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center will feature “Bats in the Backyard: Flyers in the Forest.” Presentations begin at 6:30 and 8 p.m.

Alaska Department of Fish and Game biologist Karen Blejwas will explain how she searches the evening sky for the gently flapping wings of bats, aided by digital bat detectors. Find out how you can become a bat detective and participate in the search for bats in the Juneau area.
