John Emmett 'Jack' Crowley

Former Juneau resident John Emmett "Jack" Crowley died March 3, 2005, in Seattle.

He was born to Frank and Olive Crowley on Sept. 17, 1925, in Eglon, Minn. He was raised on a farm, and then moved to Seattle at age 16.

He worked as a commercial fisherman and in construction, including work on the Yakutat airfield. He married Winnifred V. Oberg in 1944.

He served as an elder in his local congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Winnifred V. Oberg.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Crowley; daughter, Karen Wilson; son, John O. (Mary) Crowley; brother, Jerome Crowley; sister, Ione Hammer; grandchildren, Kaare (Eve), and Christiana (Michael); and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held March 19 in Seattle.
