Rescue drill at Sandy Beach

Posted: Sunday, March 19, 2000

Search and rescue teams are taking over Sandy Beach today.

They're asking citizens to avoid the woods and trails near Sandy Beach during their training exercise.

Federal, state and local agencies, along with volunteer groups, are working in the area from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Juneau residents can expect to see U.S. Coast Guard aircraft and small boats operating around Douglas Island during the exercise. Emergency vehicles and rescue personnel will be visible in the community.
