Former Juneau resident Ida Jo Reddekopp died March 16, 2008, at Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver, Wash. She was 69.
Born Oct. 1, 1938, in Springfield, Ore., to Marion R. and Grace L. (Saunders) Timmerman, she graduated from Nestucca High School in 1956. In 1961, she moved to Southeast Alaska from Oregon. From 1980 until her death, she was a resident of Cathlamet and Naselle, Wash.
According to her family, she was a creative, spirited, fun-loving family person who especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She loved the coastal area, flowers, crocheting, music, singing, storytelling and the holidays, they said. She also loved her puppy, Abbey.
She is survived by her husband, Verne Waterman; children, Mike Reddekopp, Glendi Gaddis, Gayle Atwell, Kate Berggren and Nikki Eldred; stepchildren, Aaron Waterman, Jeff Waterman, Alison Supanish, Paula Nelson and Tara Schuyler; brother, Gail "Tim" Timmerman; sisters, Middy Hurliman and Dixie Padello; 14 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at United Church of Christ (Congregational) in Cathlamet.
