Murkowski applauds state's fight against EPA climate regulation

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, applauded the Parnell administration's decision to join a growing number of states in a lawsuit to stop the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from imposing command-and-control regulation of the emissions blamed for climate change.

"If the EPA is allowed to proceed with its climate regulations, the result will be higher energy prices, higher prices for goods and services, higher housing costs and fewer jobs," Murkowski said. "We need to reduce the emissions blamed for climate change, but policy changes of this magnitude should be developed by elected members of Congress - not bureaucrats at EPA - in order to account for regional differences and minimize impacts on the economy."

Sen. Murkowski recently introduced a bipartisan "resolution of disapproval" (S.J. Res. 26) that would prevent the EPA from imposing back-door climate regulations under the Clean Air Act.

The disapproval resolution is co-sponsored by 40 Congressional lawmakers, including three Democratic senators: Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana.
