Firm adds network administrator: Jim Helm has joined the accounting firm of Elgee, Rehfeld & Funk as network administrator, a new position. Helm is a certified netware administrator and is preparing for the certified netware engineer exam.
He was educated in Missouri, Arizona and at the University of Southeast in Juneau. He has lived here 18 years. He formerly worked as an information technologist with Kappler Computer Services.
Forest Service positions announced: Four jobs have been filled in the Tongass National Forest administration.
Susan Marthaller is the new ranger for Admiralty Island National Monument. Patricia O'Connor is the new Yakutat district ranger. Virginia Nichols is the new administrative officer, and Scott Fitzwilliams is the new public services staff officer.
Longtime member leaves credit union board: After 18 years, Edna Caldwell is leaving the board of directors of the Alaska State Employees Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Juneau. She first was elected in 1983 and since then, ASEFCU assets have grown from $13 million to more than $65 million today. In 1983, services were limited to share, share draft, and loan accounts. Today, ASEFCU is a full-service financial institution, offering online services as well as products such as the Home Equity Line Credit Card.
Caldwell was honored for her volunteer service last week at the credit union's 53rd annual meeting. She was presented with a gold pan, engraved with a statement of appreciation, and a $500 contribution was made in her name to the Alaska Children's Trust.
