Last weekend, an international hockey tournament was held in Juneau at the Treadwell Arena, which brought together teams from Haines Junction, Whitehorse, Anchorage, and Petersburg-Sitka, as well as four Juneau teams. Over 80 players, their spouses and friends came to Juneau from Seattle, Wrangell, Sitka, Haines, Anchorage, Eagle River, Fairbanks, and, of course, O' Canada.
This was a great regional event helping to link Juneau to other communities in Alaska and the north. Thanks to all who helped with the tournament, especially Joe Geldhof, Chris Mertl, John Bohan and John Ingalls. Stan Savland and the F/V Steadfast warrant special praise for providing enough king crab for a horde of hungry hockey hounds. I almost forgot to mention that Juneau won the gold!
