Museums offer spring break activities for students

JUNEAU - The Alaska State Museum and the Juneau-Douglas City Museum will offer spring break classes for students during the week of March 24.

At the state museum, students can explore the natural world and create drawings from their observations with artist Kathy Hocker. The three-day spring drawing workshop is for students from third to eighth grade, and will take place from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, to Friday, March 28. The workshop is free, but preregistration is required. Registration opens at 8 a.m. Monday, March 17. To register call Lisa at 465-2901. Organizers recommend registering early.

At the city museum, children 8 to 12 years old will use animal designs for a step-by-step rock-painting class. The class will be instructed by art teacher Judy Rice. It will meet from 1-3:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, to Friday, March 28, at the museum. Preregistration is required. For more information call 586-3572.
