Strong shooting helped carry the Hoonah boys basketball team to Saturdays Class 2A state title game, but the Braves shooting touch went cold when it mattered most
Hoonah shot 23 percent from the field and 12 percent from the 3-point line as it fell to undefeated Cook Inlet Academy 45-33 at Service High School in Anchorage
D.J. Lindstrom scored 13 points and Dustin Bowen added 11 for the Braves (24-4 overall). Blake Gabriel scored 15 points to lead Cook Inlet (28-0 overall)
The game was tied at 13-all after the first quarter, but Cook Inlet went on a 6-0 run in the second quarter. The Braves rallied to draw within a point 25-24 after three quarters before Cook Inlet ended the game on a 20-9 run
The game was scheduled to start at 9:15 p.m., but was delayed another 45 minutes when a fire alarm forced evacuation of the gym earlier in the evening
More details on the game and results for other Southeast teams in the tournament will run in Mondays Juneau Empire
