Posted: Thursday, March 20, 2008

JUNEAU - Fireweed Chiropractic and Massage, a chiropractic clinic, opened last month in the Jordan Creek Center of Mendenhall Valley.

The business is owned by chiropractic doctor Keri Mell and Jim Hudson, a certified massage therapist. Mell graduated from the Palmer School of Chiropractic in 2005. She has practiced in Juneau for two years, formerly with Alaska Health Options.

Hudson has practiced massage therapy in Juneau since 2001 after graduating from the Starfire Massage School in Missoula, Mont. He worked with a number of chiropractors before starting his own business.

In addition to full chiropractic care, the clinic offers a range of alternate therapies, including deep tissue massage and injury work, hot stone massage and reiki.

The clinicians take a holistic approach to care, which pays attention to the interaction between mind, body and spirit as well as physical symptoms.

Fireweed has two other massage experts, Megan Cloudy, a certified massage therapist, and Julie Johnson, a certified massage practitioner.

Fireweed Chiropractic and Massage are on the second floor of the Jordan Creek Center, 8800 Glacier Highway. Mell and Hudson can be contacted at 790-4053 or e-mail fireweedchiro@alaska.net.
