HOUSTON — The captain of the Houston Police Department says he has collected evidence that the city’s mayor and treasurer have committed felony crimes, and sent the evidence to the FBI.
KTUU-TV reports Capt. Charley McAnally made the accusation in a letter to the city council on Thursday.
The FBI would not confirm or deny whether it has launched an investigation.
Mayor Virgie Thompson says she has not been contacted by the FBI or any other agencies.
In the letter, McAnally asked the council members to reject a job performance evaluation of him conducted by Thompson, citing a conflict of interest.
McAnally also protested city treasurer Carolyn Grabowski’s input into the evaluation.
McAnally did not elaborate on the nature of the evidence collected or the conflict of interest.
