About the My turn article of march 18, part of the so-called "loss" from Tongass Timber sales is the millions of dollars doled out to Juneau and Sitka as "timber dependent communities." Much of the rest is spent in court costs as the greens sue the Forest Service on every timber sale. Then they complain about the cost.

Goldbelt Inc. of Juneau, I told you many, many years ago to follow in the footsteps of Cook Inlet Regional Inc. Today they are worth $100 million. How much are we worth today?

I'm just calling to say Word of Mouth stinks now. I hope that you print that. Thank you.

As someone who lives too close to ERA helicopters, I naturally was excited about the proposal to create a heliport at the glacier. All the negative criticism of that plan was disappointing but understandable. No one wants the noise in their backyard. Those of us who already have it in our backyard would love a little peace and quiet, too. Maybe the folks in the Valley will be a little more willing to vote for reducing the number of flights and creating flight-free days now that they realize the noise could affect them also. We sure would appreciate your support.
