The Yakutat High School girls basketball team advanced to the semifinal round of the Class 2A State Tournament on Tuesday after a 61-41 win over Tri-Valley in Anchorage.

The Eagles' Heidi Esbenshade led all scorers with 21 points. Esther Esbenshade and Sharnel Vale added 10 points each, while Katrina Fraker and Rose Fraker scored nine points each in the win.
Yakutat raced to an 18-4 first-quarter lead and held on to top the Viking Warriors.
The Eagles will face the Ninilchik Wolverines on Wednesday. Ninilchik defeated the Selawik Wolves 40-31 on Tuesday.
CLASS 2A GIRLS
Galena 46, Kake 38
The Thunderbirds cut Galena's lead to two points in the third quarter but scored just four more points in the final eight minutes to fall in Tuesday's quarterfinal game.
Kake's Lynette Aceveda led all scorers with 17 points. Sharissa Jackson added eight points, and Shaunte Sternod scored five points in defeat.
Kake will face Cook Inlet Academy in consolation round on Wednesday.
CLASS 2A BOYS
Tok 57, Kake 44
Tok outscored Kake 23-11 in the fourth quarter Tuesday in the state quarterfinals.
The Wolverines led 34-33 after three quarters and pulled away in the final minutes.
The Thunderbirds' Lance Doake led his team with 17 points. Tony Mach had 10 points, and Dean Cavanaugh scored nine points in defeat.
Kake will play Unalakleet in Wednesday's consolation round. Unalakleet fell to Bristol Bay 58-54 on Tuesday.
Galena 55, Yakutat 43
Galena ended Yakutat's attempt to repeat as state champions on Tuesday.
Galena led 26-11 at halftime before Yakutat outscored its opponent 22-13 in the third quarter to make it close.
The Eagles' Kyle Dierick led all players with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Jay Sin had eight points and Stephen Adams scored seven points in defeat.
Yakutat will play Cook Inlet Academy on Wednesday.
