PO Weller wins federal employee of the year award

Petty Officer Lori Weller of the U.S. Coast Guard was selected as the 2001 Juneau Federal Employee of the Year. She is an active duty Coast Guard reservist who has been serving since 1981. Petty Officer Weller is responsible for the research and production of time-sensitive maritime information in support of fisheries and law enforcement. She also manages the Command Intelligence Officer program and supervises the reporting of Alaska Coast Guard ships and shore offices.

For the past year Petty Officer Weller has directed the 17th Coast Guard District Color Guard, coordinating their participation in several highly visible service and community events including; the Fourth of July Parade, the Memorial Day commemoration, and the National Day of Prayer. Petty Officer Weller is an active member of the Youth Juneau Soccer Club and has participated in the Meals on Wheels program, the Coast Guard Chiefs Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner and the Wong-Tiner Dinner Fund-raiser.
