In regards to Mike Shakespeare's letter in Monday's Juneau Empire, "Opposing homosexuality on religious grounds," our government is not a religious one.

Even though it may seem like it, our Constitution is based on religious freedom and equality, which means you can believe in whatever the heck you want. Therefore, everybody doesn't have to listen to the Bible and only the Bible.
I would just like to point out that the upcoming voting is not a vote for homosexuality and whether or not it is "sinful and harmful," but rather to allow benefits for same-sex partners.
I also would like to know where in the world it says the Bible can dictate all our actions?
