KLAWOCK - The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium Alicia Roberts Medical Center in Klawock is pleased to announce the hiring of Sean Tomkinson as the ARMC behavioral health clinic supervisor.
Tomkinson is a licensed clinical social worker who will be a behavioral health clinician in Klawock. Before moving to Alaska, he worked at the emergency room and psychiatric unit at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. He also has worked with SUWS Wilderness Programs for adolescents and youth (formerly the School of Urban and Wilderness Survival) in Shoshone, Idaho, and with a couple of other community mental health agencies in Idaho.
Tomkinson earned a Master of Arts degree in social work from Walla Walla University in Walla Walla, Wash. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work from Idaho State University in Pocatello. His specialty is post-traumatic stress disorder and youth and adolescents.
His medical interests include the use of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety. He also enjoys hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing.
