QUINHAGAK - Fire destroyed a building in the southwest Alaska community of Quinhagak, Alaska State Troopers said.
A village police officer Thursday spotted smoke coming from the vents of the Headstart building. The building was on fire and flames engulfed the structure.
The cause has not been determined. The loss is estimated at $250,000.
Quinhagak is 71 miles southwest of Bethel on the Kanektok River, less than a mile from the Bering Sea coast.
