JDHS honored at Academic Decathlon

The GCI Alaska Academic Decathlon was held recently in Anchorage, and the Juneau-Douglas High School state team brought home numerous awards.

In the honors division: Rabina Maskay received a silver medal in math, placed fifth in interview, sixth in economics and garnered the overall highest score for the JDHS academic decathlon team; Franelle Honea received a silver medal in interview. In the scholastic division: Stephanie Tripp received a silver medal in music, placed fifth in science, art, language and literature, and sixth in the superquiz topic on the French Revolution; Eric Stromme placed fifth in essay writing and seventh in economics; Maureen Caparas placed seventh in math and eighth in science. In the varsity division: Adam Soto received a bronze medal in mathematics, placed fifth in science, sixth in music, eighth in art; Jamelyn Zeller placed fourth in math.
