... for time, effort and generous hearts
Hospice and Home Care of Juneau would like to express their deepest thanks to several different community groups and individuals who gave their time, efforts and generous hearts to help a Hospice and Home Care patient and her family.
A call was made to Juneau Gastineau Rotary Club coordinator Kevin Ritchie and he arranged for three Rotary volunteers to meet an HHCJ social worker at the patient's home to do major physical work for two hours on March 6. A group of the patient's friends also joined the work, and together they were able to provide a valuable service.
A U-Haul truck was donated for the day, which made the work much easier for the volunteers, and Rotary was extremely generous to also pay for the cost of related expenses. The next day, staff members from Southeast Senior Services volunteered their time, as well as members from the Juneau Shambhala Center. We have just received word that Southeast Furniture has offered to donate a mattress, which will help this patient.
The immediate and generous efforts of many individuals made a huge difference in this patient's and family's lives. Thank you to everyone. Together we can make a difference with the power of simple human kindness.
