Former Juneau resident Emerenciana Balcorta Barril, 82, died March 3, 2005, in Baguio City, Philippines.
She was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Pangasinan, Philippines. In 1975, she moved to Juneau, where she worked for the state of Alaska and was a school teacher. She moved back to the Philippines in 1999.
Her family said she was kind and loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Florentino Barril; daughters, Tessie Barril of Juneau and Milagros Barril Quitania and her husband, James of San Diego, Calif.; sons, Dr. Joseph Barril and his wife, Dr. Anafe Barril of Alabang, and Rey Barril of Juneau; grandchildren, Randy, Robby, Jonathan, Michelle, Jameson, Lyndon, Angela, Rachel, Hannah, Malcolm and Krista; and great-grandchildren, Hailey and Peyton Quinto.
A memorial service was held March 10 in the Philippines.
