U.S. Coast Guard Station Juneau BMC John Moreland secures an anchor chain on a bar buoy for placement Monday in Gastineau Channel. "We make sure everything is accounted for," Moreland said. "We just make sure anchors are attached and replace markings, that kind of thing." The Coast Guard will use its 15-foot safe boat ELD-Tac 1 to place the buoys in the channel from the AML Terminal to the back side of the airport on Tuesday. The 18 bar buoys are replaced each spring and each fall.
