JUNEAU - Airport officials have extended the closure of the Emergency Vehicle Access Road, commonly referred to as the Airport Dike Trail, for two weeks to make sure the trail's alignment is complete before it is reopened.
It has been closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic since Feb. 16 with an anticipated re-opening this Sunday.
It is now scheduled to re-open full-time on April 11. The extended closure includes the area currently used for parking near the trail head.
The trail will continue to be open for public use on Sundays throughout the closure extension.
Officials reminded the public to be mindful of construction zones, roadway signage, and heavy equipment along Radcliffe Road and in the vicinity of the Mendenhall Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Questions and comments can be directed to the Juneau International Airport Manager's Office at 789-7821.
