Last Fireside Lecture of season held Friday

This Friday’s Fireside Lecture will feature “Wilderness Through a Different Lens: Writers and Students on the Water.” Lectures begin at 6:30 and at 8 p.m. at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor’s Center.

Students Sarah Donohoe and Andrew Gregovich will share experiences from their 2010 US Forest Service Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness internships, and Juneau writer Aleria Jensen will read poems and essays from her Voices of the Wilderness artist-in-residence program.

The Voices in the Wilderness program, organized by Barbara Lydon, is now acception artist applications for the 2011 season, the program’s second. Two artists will be invited to participate in residencies each lasting seven days. For more information, visit
